NFL: Week 4

So in week 3 we learned shit about shit.

The home dogs were out in force. Week 3 is such a fucking weird week because any 0-2 team really has to win if they want any fucking hope of sniffing the playoffs without any crazy shit going on with other teams. On the flip side, any 2-0 team sort of rests on their laurels and takes the week for granted. And you can’t do that in the NFL. So it proved out that many of the good teams, lost to bad teams, for simply this reason. Sometimes it looks like fucking collusion.

Now a quick opinion paragraph….

In terms of the protesting. I’m fine with it. It’s fucking shameful how minorities have been and are being treated in this country. So you won’t hear me bitch about the players, coaches and owners taking a knee one bit (hell I want more of them to do it. Calling Brady? Calling Rodgers?) because its not about the song, or the flag, its about the freedoms they represent and part of that freedom is the ability to protest.

And while I agree, some of these owners are protesting to protect their industry and financial interests from governmental interference into their business more so than the inequity in how we treat minorities in this country, I say, that’s not the worst thing. They are involved now. That’s step one. Sometimes the motivation isn’t pure, but the end result can be practical and beneficial on a huge scale. (The US’s entry into World War II comes to mind as a situation where, were the US being truly altruistic, they would have entered the war far earlier than when they did. But in the end the defeat of the Axis powers still had a significant impact.)

Week 4 Hooking Foul Sleeveless Power Rankings!

RK TEAM CHANGE REASON
1 Falcons +2 What Super Bowl hangover?
2 Chiefs +5 How long til Andy Reid costs them a game?
3 Raiders -2 Bad loss in DC, but it was 2nd trip to the east in 3 weeks.
4 Patriots 0 Sometimes you do just enough to win.
5 Packers +1 Very nice comeback after falling behind.
6 Lions +2 A great showing against a very good team.
7 Cowboys +4 Good bounce back on the road.
8 Steelers -6 Their on field arrogance got the best of them, again.
9 Vikings +5 Case Keenum doesn’t need to be that good to win.
10 Broncos -1 Bad loss to a bad team, regardless of it being on the road.
11 Eagles +2 Can these Eagles give the Cowboys a run for the East?
12 Seahawks -2 The problems have multiplied.
13 Panthers -8 It’s possible Cam Newton is done.
14 Bucs -2 Not a great showing against a team with a backup QB.
15 Titans 0 Did they win or did Seattle lose? I’m not sure.
16 Jaguars +2 All preseason I’ve said the defense is legit
17 Redskins +3 A good, solid win at home.
18 Bills +4 A good, solid win at home.
19 Texans +4 A good, solid showing in NE.
20 Ravens -4 A disastrous trip across the pond.
21 Rams +3 Might the Rams be good enough on offense?
22 Cardinals +4 A good, solid showing against a much better team.
23 Bears +5 Da Bears maybe the “good home, crap road” team.
24 Dolphins -5 Total embarrassment in Jersey.
25 Browns -4 Poor start against a bad team, have to start better.
26 Chargers -9 I just don’t know anymore.
27 49ers -2 Played in a fun game to watch, first time since Harbaugh?
28 Saints +2 They were desperate, Panthers weren’t.
29 Giants 0 Were the 24 4th quarter points a start or a fluke?
30 Bengals -3 Get back Burfict, maybe that fixes the defense. Too late.
31 Colts 0 The roster talent is just completely lacking.
32 Jets 0  The roster talent is lacking even more than completely.

Last week I was 6-10 Against the Spread and 7-8-1 on Over/Unders.

On the season 23-23-1 Against the Spread and 25-20-2 on Over/Unders.
