So this week was a disappointment over at the ole DraftKings. 160 points usually gets you your money back, and I got 162.16, but not this week. That’s ok though, we had some great hits and some big misses, it’s why I’m still writing this and not on my yacht. So because you love my columns and advice you are all rooting against me aren’t you? Foiled by my faithful readers again! That’s ok I like writing this stuff, and truth be told, I’d probably still do it even if I hit the million. So let’s look at all and then review my lineup! We are looking for opportunity and value in Daily Fantasy. Sometimes the means a player with a high floor, but a lower ceiling and sometimes that means a player with a low floor but a higher ceiling. Opportunity and skill are what determine such things. As we have seen with Antonio Brown the last few weeks, without Ben Roethlisberger under center he has been a shell of himself, he is still ok, but hardly looks like the first round pick you spent on him in season long, or delivering on the salary you are paying for him on DraftKings. Gary Barnidge though has become a top 5 TE because he keeps finding the endzone. He’s not a top 5 talent, but he has red zone opportunities each week. Ask anyone who Gary Barnidge was during the preseason and if you happened to be asking his mom or his high school coach they would know, but few others would have had any clue. Continue reading
Dear NFL what is a catch? in the Detroit/Chicago game Golden Tate’s hands touched the ball, he moved it as it touched the goal line and then a defender strippped it away. Looked like a fumble to me in real time, in slow mo replay and then again in real time. It was ruled a fumble on the field. It was over turned to a TD after further review. I don’t know what defines a catch generally speaking, let alone near the goalline. Continue reading
I still don’t know how to best write this article. I’m working hard to come up with the best way to get you what I think are the best plays of the week. I have some ideas I’m working with, but structurally I haven’t settled on the best way to convey that info to all of you. So here is my lineup for week 6! Enjoy the football!
So Google sheets crashed yesterday. Weird. Then I had to go to work. That all really crushed my time and ability to get my numbers run and typed up for your perusal. But I still wanted to get my DK lineup up for you to get an idea of matchups I like. So here it is quickly. Next week I will have a more in depth version again and will also address the whole “insider trading” thing. I have some concerns for sure, but I’m still playing, so I’m not turned off completely. Enjoy week 5 folks!
The deluge of Daily fantasy has overtaken commercial breaks during every sporting event. They are seared into my brain almost as much as when NESN ran grub killer commercials during every half inning for an entire season of Red Sox games. It was brutal, but I’m not going to lie, my whiffle ball field looked great that year because I used the grub killer and the rest of the Scotts Turf building system. So I know DFS is in our eyes and in our ears, especially if you listen to fantasy football podcasts, to the point we all feel like we are drowning in it, but it is fun to play. While I think there is a large matter of luck to winning the big grand prizes, you can play strategically and win enough that you are paying for each week’s entry fee.
